Our team fuel our innovation, growth and commitment to excellence at Kytun. This month we’re spotlighting one of our top Sales Executives, Andrew Herbert.  Read on to learn more about Andrew’s journey and contributions at Kytun!

Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your role within Kytun?

Hello, my name is Andrew Herbert. I’m a Sales Executive for Kytun. My role involves promoting and selling our Aluminium products to new and existing customers across Connaught, the Midlands and East Leinster.

What inspired you to pursue a career within the construction industry?

I was always involved in sales from when I left School and enjoyed interacting with people. After a number of years in a local department store I started as a Sales Rep, and loved being on the road. Prior to my job with Kytun, I had little experience in the construction industry but wanted a new challenge. Kytun gave me the opportunity and I’ve loved developing my skills and knowledge within this sector.

Could you share some of the key responsibilities or tasks that you manage in your current position?

My day to day involves contacting a range of people from self builders, architects, rainwater installers, and small and large construction companies to see what Kytun can offer them on their projects and developments. It requires being attentive to the their requirements, showcasing what we can do, and offering technical backup where needed. It also involves managing projects that we have already secured and making sure I contribute to a smooth process for both the customer and Kytun by liaising and communicating well throughout the process.

What aspect of your work do you find most fulfilling or rewarding?

I really enjoy being involved in unique projects where we are required to manufacture something a little bit different and that stands out. I get great satisfaction from being able to see these developments through from start to finish and see a happy customer at the end.

From your perspective, what skills or qualities are crucial for success in your position?

For me, being organised is extremely important as there can be a lot of balls all up in the air that you are having to juggle. Also some of the projects that we are involved in can be very time sensitive so it’s really important to react quickly and efficiently in order to avoid delays in production. Being able to manage under pressure is also key for this very reason.

Can you highlight any notable achievements or milestones from your career that you’re particularly proud of?

Whatever role I’ve been involved in I’ve always been able to grow the sales and this has been the case with Kytun despite coming in with having a lot to learn and I’m proud of that. I’ve always tried to be honest and hardworking in sales, and do things the right way. I feel that if you approach any business in this way then you will always succeed.

If someone were interested in pursuing a career similar to yours, what advice would you offer them?

I would say go for it. Often people are scared of things that they don’t know and worry how well they will do in an unfamiliar role. However if they have a good attitude and a good work ethic then this I believe is 90% of what you need to succeed.

Outside of work, what interests or hobbies do you enjoy in your free time?

I really enjoy playing soccer with my friends every Wednesday evening. I think it’s important to try and maintain some healthy exercise. I also enjoy nature and try to take time to appreciate Ireland’s landscapes. Above all I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids and doing things together when we can, whether it’s a movie, board game, or a walk.

Looking ahead, how do you see your role evolving, and what are your long-term goals?

Overall my goal is to maintain the healthy growth that Kyun has been achieving over the last number of years. Kytun has grown and developed incredibly over the years, and not only reacted to the changing market, but has been pro-active in it’s development both internally and externally. Hopefully I can continue to be a contributing part of this success.

We’re proud to have Andrew on board and look forward to seeing his continued growth at Kytun. Check out our blog for more employee spotlights, as we celebrate the incredible talent behind Kytun!
