By Terry Goodwin, Head of Operations, Kytun UK

When you work in plastic components for the roofing trade, you get used to flying under the radar. These products aren’t flashy. They don’t carry big price tags or headline innovations. But they are expected to perform – consistently, reliably and without failure.

That’s where we come in.

At Kytun, we manufacture a wide range of ventilation accessories for roofline systems.

Every component is made from UV-stabilised reprocessed polypropylene: a durable, sustainable material that performs in all weathers AND takes plastic waste out of landfill.

“The short story is that our products are long lasting and never need replacing. In fact, our plastic products are not only produced from recycled materials, but they can also be recycled again and again.”

As Head of Operations, it is my job to ensure everything that leaves our facility is strong, stable, and built to last. No surprises. No shortcuts

What We’re Showing at InstallerSHOW

We’ll be bringing a full range of our trusted ventilation accessories to InstallerSHOW this year – all made from high-grade, UV-stabilised, re-processed polypropylene:

They might not look like much on the table – but any installer will tell you: fit matters. Consistency matters. Getting it right first-time matters.

Why Quality Matters and How We Achieve It

Not all plastics are created equal. Inferior products can warp, crack, fade – or worse, fail on site. The result? Callbacks, wasted time, lost trust.

We avoid all of that through a simple principle: we always use the right materials and the right processes:

  • We only source materials from ISO 9001:2015-certified suppliers
  • We test every batch of material and component to a high level
  • We work closely with suppliers on new derivatives and advanced additives

We lead the way in sustainable use of reprocessed materials – removing 1,000 tonnes from landfill annually.

The Process Behind the Product

Every Kytun plastic component goes through a controlled quality process:

  1. Material delivery: plastic pellets arrive and are immediately tested and verified
  2. Preparation: pellets are loaded into a hopper which removes any moisture or condensation
  3. Moulding: materials are melted and injected into precision-engineered moulds
  4. Cooling: components are cooled and extracted by robot
  5. Inspection: operators perform quality checks at every stage
  6. Packing: only the best products make it to the line

We test for:

  • Impact strength
  • UV performance
  • Temperature resilience
  • Long-term dimensional stability

Sustainability and Innovation

At Kytun, sustainability is part of our everyday process, not just a marketing line.

We lead the way in using reprocessed materials and are continuously looking at new manufacturing methods to further improve quality and environmental impact.

We’re currently working on new material innovations (details to come) – but as ever, nothing is approved unless it meets our proven durability and performance standards.

What You’ll Hear on the Stand

Over many years, we’ve found that installation-related concerns are more important to roofers than manufacturing ones. Our technical team is always ready to help with training, product information and guidance.

The key message we want to share is simple:

There are many low-quality, untested plastics in the market.
If you want robust, market-leading products that stand the test of time – with the confidence of 40+ years’ experience behind them – choose Kytun.

What to Expect at the Show

The most common question we hear?

“Will it last?”

The answer is yes, because we’ve done the work to make sure it does.

I’ve spent over 40 years in plastics and manufacturing, producing components for medical, white goods and industrial products worldwide, and I still enjoy helping roofers and specifiers understand what makes a good plastic product great.

If you’re at InstallerSHOW, come and pick my brains. Ask about materials, testing, tooling – whatever you want to know.

I’ll be there with the team, and we’ll be more than happy to talk shop.

See you at the show!
