Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your role within Kytun?

My name is Daniel Oliver, Office Manager is my position within Kytun UK. I play a key role in purchasing, stock management, logistics, production planning, and customer relations. I assist with the smooth running of these areas alongside our Head of Operations & Production Manager located at our Darlington Manufacturing & Distribution facilities, contributing to our overall efficiency and customer satisfaction.

What inspired you to pursue a career within the construction industry?

Initially, I worked as a machine operator within this business. This line of work peaked my interest and made me want to develop my knowledge of the field.

Could you share some of the key responsibilities or tasks that you manage in your current position?

My range of daily tasks can vary, some of the key responsibilities I hold are making sure customer orders are dispatched accurately and efficiently. This ensures that Kytun’s high-quality customer service and strong lead times remain consistent with the high standards we’re known for.

What aspect of your work do you find most fulfilling or rewarding?

A rewarding part on the job is when customers are happy with the quality of our products and services provided.

From your perspective, what skills or qualities are crucial for success in your position?

Key skills for someone in my position would be the following:

  • Clear and concise communication skills whether that be with internal colleagues or external customers.
  • Being able to multitask is another core skill which can be reinforced by coherent note taking and strong organisational skills.
  • Problem solving and time management are two competencies that work hand in hand to provide support when resolving situations.

Can you highlight any notable achievements or milestones from your career that you’re particularly proud of?

The integration from a production operator to office manager was a big step up and came with a lot more responsibility and challenges which has given me a wider insight into the construction industry.

If someone were interested in pursuing a career similar to yours, what advice would you offer them?

My advice for people pursuing a career similar to mine, is that there is plenty of training and opportunities available to support your growth within a role like this. You won’t always know everything but there’s plenty of people to lend a helping hand and give you advice when needed.

Outside of work, what interests or hobbies do you enjoy in your free time?

In my free time I love to watch anything football, combat sports or history related. And also being able to spend quality time with my close family, fiancé and children.

Looking ahead, how do you see your role evolving, and what are your long-term goals?

I’ve been in this industry for the last 3 years and in this time, my role has grown alongside the fast strategic growth of Kytun, my long term goals are to continue to assist with the development of Kytun and become one of the biggest manufacturers and distributors of roofing products in the construction industry.
